Kumari Srimathi Season 1 Plot

The show is set in a village called Ramaraju Lanka in the Godavari region. Srimathi (Nithya Menen) is the eldest daughter of a middle-class family and a chef. She lives a simple life and is not ready to commit to the bonds of marriage. At such a time, his uncle Keshav Rao plans to loot his ancestral property and goes to court for this. The court hereby gives six months’ time to Shrimati’s family to save the property and a chance to repay the dues of Rs 40 lakh. How Shrimathi will handle this deadly situation is the story of the show.

Kumari Srimathi Season 1 Performance

Nithya Menen is a natural artiste and she has nailed it in Kumari Srimathi. She fits seamlessly into the lead role and delivers a brilliant performance. Be it her sartorial sense, body language and dialogue delivery, she nails the role as an independent working village girl. Gautami is seen in the role of Nithya Menen and she is fine.

She starts making noise in some scenes but as the show progresses, she becomes natural. After a long gap, Talluri Rameswari has made a comeback and has settled into her role well. Praneeta Patnaik and Prem Sagar are good in their roles. There is not much to do for the roles of Thiruveer and Nirupam in the show.

Kumari Srimathi Season 1 Technicalities

Staccato and Kamran composed the music for this show and their songs are impressive. The show is written by Srinivas Avasarala and he adds an old-school charm to its writing. Be it his characters or dialogues, he ensures that the content is clean and can be watched by the entire family. Editing is good as runtime is not an issue. Moha Krishna’s camera work is amazing as he beautifully depicts the streets of the Godavari region. The aesthetics of the show are perfectly created.

Kumari Srimathi Season 1 Analysis

Kumari Shrimati is about a 30-year-old young working woman and how she gets into problems related to her ancestral property. Srinivas Avasarala has written the story and dialogues of the show and his characters are taken directly from daily life. He gives good scope to director Gautham to create scenes that showcase women empowerment, which is demonstrated through Nithya Menen and her becoming an entrepreneur.

But the biggest drawback of the show is that there is no proper villain in it. The conflict point is good but it is not enough to create poignant emotions for the audience to enjoy. The makers had only one agenda to keep the show clean and add good comedy. Though the comedy clicks in some scenes, the pain and emotions that Nithya Menen goes through do not come across properly. But still, it is Nithya Menen’s wonderful work that hides the demerits again and again.

Just to create suspense, the director has added some scenes which seem staged and imposed on the audience. The show which starts off impressively slows down and picks up pace by the last episode, leaving the audience with mixed feelings. The return of a main character and the way the entire scenario has been handled feels very rushed. Another drawback is that apart from Nithya Menen’s character, the rest of the actors are not able to make much impact.

The show tries to pack in all kinds of emotions to please the audience but falls flat when things become too much. In all of this, the writing takes a few points as there are scenes that impact you and take you back on a journey with some good family fun that audiences will enjoy. Just ignore the predictability of the show and once you connect with the characters, the world of Kumari Srimathi will draw you in and make for a good watch.
